An allergy is a reaction your body has to a particular food or substance. Allergies are particularly common in children, but adults can get them too. They can be a reaction to certain foods, products put on the skin, or products at home or in the environment. People can react to natural elements, or to certain chemicals or processes which are used in industrial processes and products.
